  • Farrow to finish swine management.
  • Feeds & forages.
  • Movement principles.
  • Numbers breakdown, building profitability into every sale.

Direct Marketing Course: This segment will go in depth on how we started from scratch and have continued to grow our sales exponentially year after year.  It takes work and we will provide the knowledge and useful tools so that you can succeed in your marketplace. We all know that without selling what we produce, we won’t have a viable business. So let’s be sure to have the correct information to work in a way that will create the biggest impact in sales.  We will discuss our experience with Farmers Markets, Drop Sites/Buying Clubs, Online Sales, Shipping, Home Delivery, Wholesale, Restaurants, and On-farm sales. We’ll look at the ins and outs of logistics, regulations, selling by the piece vs. by the pound, carcass vs. individual cuts, websites, e-commerce, cut sheets, building your story, branding, social media presence, and so much more.  It’s exciting and fun to watch your business grow (or looking at where you want to start) and we are excited to help you! This class can be taken with the Farrow to Finish School or taken by itself. Happy Selling!

                                                  Meet the Instructors!

Jordan Green - Jordan first tasted farming at an early age. Born in upstate New York, he spent his childhood on a 1000-acre private lake preserve and developed a love for animals and the outdoors. Working in his family's gardens and raising egg laying chickens were activities he enjoyed every summer. As a teenager on his parents' Virginia homestead, he managed a herd of dairy goats, raised pastured poultry, helped out with his mother's large gardens, and worked in his father's landscaping business.

He attended Joel Salatin's Polyface Farm as an apprentice from September 2001 through November 2002. From 2002 through 2004, he coached several aspiring farmers on the east coast in the process of starting their own sustainable farms.  For five years from 2004 to 2009, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps with multiple deployments around the world.

Upon leaving active military service in 2009, Jordan and his wife Laura started their own  farm in Edinburg, Virginia, and have been steadily growing it since then. They raise animals ethically, entirely on pasture, and in harmony with nature. They currently offer pasture-raised poultry, forest-fed pork, and grass-fed and grass-finished beef. They also collaborate with local farms with the same philosophy to provide truly farm-fresh eggs, organically grown vegetables, and other farm foods.

Laura Green - Laura runs the retail side of J & L Green Farm. She and her team hang with the humans—in the store, on deliveries, and behind the keyboard. If it has to do with J&L products and customers, she's got it!
Laura also runs the poultry processing team during the summer, and fills in pretty much anywhere as needed on farm operations at any point during the year.
Outside of farm responsibilities, Laura is a Certified Holistic Life Coach specializing in inner healing and mindsets.
She grew up on her family’s small farm in Texas, and before co-founding J&L Green Farm with Jordan she had a successful career in the banking sector.

Jeff Mattocks - Jeff has 29 years’ experience working in Organic, Pastured, and Sustainable Agriculture. He is actively involved in diet formulation for all types of livestock and poultry for organic and sustainable farmers. Jeff also assists and educates farmers with better management practices increasing animal health, productivity and return income from poultry and livestock. https://www.fertrell.com/
